Inappropriate uses for an air compressor: Making snow
snow cannonLet’s start by saying that here at Air Supplies we don’t recommend you try making your own snow machine with an air compressor. If you’re that desperate to experience a white Christmas, move somewhere colder. However, if anyone out there is crazy or rich enough to risk sacrificing a perfectly good air compressor by hooking it up to a domestic pressure washer and adding a few bits and pieces easily obtained from any decent DIY store in order to artificially create snow, you can find full instructions on how to do so at here A few things we might point out. Firstly, this is an American website (who else would dream up the idea of building a home snow machine using an air compressor). Secondly, your home-made air compressor snow machine will only work in freezing conditions, so you can forget about surprising everyone at your midsummer barbecue by creating your own ski slopes. And, thirdly, as the website repeatedly advises, introducing running water to your air compressor is a useful method of irreparably damaging it. If you’re still not deterred by the risks and you do decide to build your own snow machine, please don’t complain to us when it all goes horribly wrong, but feel free to send us your photos if it works!
