What’s not to like about a powerful, portable pneumatic nail gun with no trailing wires or connection to an air compressor required? American air tool manufacturer Senco has –literally- nailed it with its innovative ‘Fusion’ range of products to provide nail guns that are fast, safe and easy to use. So how does the Senco Fusion 18 Gauge Straight Brad Nailer work? The gun houses a sealed cylinder containing pressurised nitrogen. Pulling the trigger releases a blast of pressurised nitrogen at a force of around 130psi, which causes an enclosed piston to impact the gun’s driver head which accurately drives the nail into whatever is being nailed. The inbuilt rechargeable lithium-ion battery immediately resets the piston and re-pressurises the nitrogen in the cylinder when the trigger is released, readying the gun for the next shot. For a tool that is so versatile and packed with useful features such as a nose-mounted LED light for illuminating those dark corners, the Senco Fusion 18 Gauge Straight Brad Nailer is remarkably simple in design and construction, comprising only 31 parts compared with the 100 or so parts found in battery or air compressor operated tools. Fewer parts means less to go wrong, making the Senco Fusion 18 extremely reliable. Designed for comfort, safety and performance, the Senco Fusion 18 Nailer is nicely balanced, not particularly heavy and features a rubberised grip and inbuilt belt-hook. Nail jams are extremely rare and easily remedied and Senco Fusion 18 Nailer even has three different operating modes making it ideal for construction, repair and fixing jobs of every size.
